Saunas by the Sea

Sea swimming in Ireland got a great deal more civilised these last few years. These are the saunas at the beaches, piers and lakeshores — barrels on trailers, converted horseboxes, a few permanent builds — run mostly by one or two people who swim there themselves.

Most take bookings online or through Instagram, and many are seasonal or move with the weather. Check with the operator before you drive. We list who and where, not prices or opening hours, because those change constantly and a wrong one is worse than none.

These are small independent businesses that open, move and close. This list was compiled in August 2026 and only includes places we could find current evidence for — it will not be complete, and Instagram-only operators are the hardest to catch. If yours is missing, or a detail is wrong, tell us and we will fix it. Back to the swim guide →
