Rush, Co. Dublin — Swimming, Tides, Access & Sea Temperature Guide | Wild Beauty
Rush
Rush — sandy town beach on Dublin Bay.
About Rush
Rush is a market-gardening and fishing town on the Fingal coast with two sandy beaches — the South Beach and North Beach — either side of its harbour, and the low green hump of Rockabill lighthouse out to sea.
The South Beach is the popular swimming strand, gently shelving and backed by dunes.
Swimming & safety
Rush South Beach has lifeguards in summer and is a designated bathing water. It shelves gently and is a good family beach; as ever, check the bathing-water status after heavy rain.
Tides & conditions
The beach changes through the day with the tide, and swimming can shift from easy to lively as the wind and swell get up. Check the live tide, wind and sea-temperature page for Rush before you travel — you can scrub forward to any date to plan a swim.
Getting there & facilities
There's parking near both beaches and the harbour, and Rush & Lusk station is on the northern rail line. The town has shops and cafés, and Rush Harbour is a pleasant spot to finish a swim.
Nearby
From Rush, Rogerstown Estuary, the harbour and the beaches of Loughshinny and Skerries are close by.
