About Murlough
Murlough is a vast five-mile beach of golden sand backed by Ireland's first nature reserve — a 6,000-year-old dune system — nestling beneath the Mourne Mountains at Dundrum Bay.
Managed by the National Trust and Blue Flag, its sweeping sands and strong winds make it a favourite for walking, swimming and, when the breeze is up, surfing and kite-surfing.

Murlough is a Blue Flag beach for 2026 — certified water quality, good facilities and lifeguard cover through the bathing season. Lifeguards patrol through the bathing season (roughly June to September), with RNLI lifeguards on the main strands.
