About Clonea Strand

Clonea Strand is a two-mile sweep of golden sand on the edge of the Copper Coast UNESCO Global Geopark near Dungarvan, with calm, gently shelving water that makes it a favourite family beach.

A Blue Flag strand, it pairs a proper swimming beach with easy access to the Waterford Greenway and the dramatic geology of the Copper Coast.

Clonea Strand is a Blue Flag beach for 2026 — certified water quality, good facilities and lifeguard cover through the bathing season. Lifeguards patrol generally at weekends in June and daily in July and August (Waterford City & County Council).
